BGCWC Expands to Belpre

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - A longtime youth community group is expanding to more of Washington County.

The Boys and Girls Club of Washington County announced it will be creating a satellite program in Belpre.

The youth center is working on a lease with Belpre Church of the Nazarene.

The program will serve around 30 students from kindergarten to sixth grade after school and the club is talking with Belpre city schools to help with transportation.

"Some of the board members were concerned that Belpre was an underserved area," executive director Rebecca Johnson said, "and when I consulted with Belpre city schools, they confirmed that it is actually an underserved area as far as having options for kids after school. So we wanted to expand into Belpre."

Johnson says she hopes to have everything ready for the site by the time school returns August 14.

New Parents

New parents joining us this summer, and those joining us again, welcome.

First, welcome to the BGCWC family. We are honored to have you and your child with us for the summer. I wanted to update you all on our communication methods here at BGCWC. Aside from paper communication, BGCWC provides multiple ways for us to communicate with you over the summer on your personal devices and emails, in and out of the club.

  1. Social Media: We are on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. These three services are where most of our communication comes through.

    1. We also have LinkedIn, although it is generally reserved for big events and fundraisers.

  2. Parents Group: On Facebook, we have a parents group. This is where we will share closed information only for parents to know.

    1. If you are on Facebook, PLEASE JOIN THE PARENTS GROUP.

    2. If not, please DO NOT join Facebook just to join this group. We will still make sure you're in the loop.

  3. Text Messages: BGCWC does provide text message support via Remind. We will use this service to provide quick updates for rain delays/cancellations on pool days as well as upcoming field trips and more. This is our way of communicating quick parent updates.

  4. Newsletters: BGCWC will send out newsletters on occasion so you can have an all-in-one update on everything going on at our club, right in your inbox.

Below are buttons to all of our communication methods listed above.
